CLOSE AND EXCITING MATCH.

Our Nuhaka North correspondent writes :—A cricket match was played on the Mahia Cricket Ground on New Year’s Day between the local players and a team representing Nuhaka, and resulted in a win for Mahia by two runs. The highest scorers for Mahia were Temple (not out) 25, Glennie 14, Cartwright 12, Warner 10; for Nuhaka, Stewart IS, Chapman 12, Tait 11. Gadduru, Glennie, Temple, Chapman, W. Richardson, and Foukes bowled well. The total number of runs made were : Mahia, 116 ; Nuhaka, 113. Towards tho finish the close matoh caused much excitement, and the Mahia team deserved the laurels won. ;
