LAND FOR SETTLEMENT.
A large quantity of Crown land in this district should bo thrown open in March, including about 19.0U0 acres of unsurveyed land of the Waitahia block (on the coast); 5000 acres, nearly opposite Mr Hansen’s accommodation house at the Motu. surveyed and divided into sections of 200 to 000 acres, suitable for dairy farms; about 15,000 acres of unsurveyed land in the same vicinity,' and a further block of 28,000 acres at the head of the Motu Valley. The Land Board on Saturday approved of this land being thrown open. On the motion of Mr Matthewson, seconded by Mr Hall, the following resolution was adopted:— :l To meet the increasing demand for land in this district this Board respectfully urges on the Government the advisability of taking over the East Coast Native Trust lands, held by the Bank of New Zealand Assets Realisation Board, or such portions as are eminently suitable for dairying and farming, such as Paremata and Pakowai.”
