LAND SETTLEMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Napier, last night. It having been freely reported that the Government did not intend to proceed with the purebaso of a portion of the Mount Vornon estate, noar Waipawa, for settlement purposes, as previously announced, Mr Hall, M.H.R., yesterday wired to the Premier, asking if such was the case, and received a reply stating that the Government intended to go on with tho purchase. HIGHER EDUCATION.
Tho Education Board to-day confirmed tho establishment of a district high school at Dannovirko. It is expected that between 30 and 40 pupils will he available lor higher education at tho Dannovirke South school. With tho high school fairly established, good support is expected from Woodville.
