REMARKABLE VARIATION OF PRICES.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, last night. Tho Palmerston North Bam Fair was fairly successful, notwithstanding tho bad weather. Over 2000 passed under tho hammer, a considerable increase on last year. There was a good attendance of buyers, and breeders from all parts of the colony woro represented in the catalogue. Lincolns were a drug, and surprise was expressed at the poor figures realised. ' Some of tho finest flock sheep seen in Palmerston wore sold at 2to gs. Tho highest price realised for stud Lincolns was 9£gs. The Bomnoys of one breeder (Mr Wybourne, of Waverley) sold re- , "markably well, and tho supply was not equal to tho demand. English Loicostors oxcitod wrotched competition. Tho quality was poor, and thero woro no buyers. There was one exception in quality, tho record price of tho fair being paid by Mr Lancaster, a local breodor, for a stud English Leicester, Littlo Bros.’ (Oamaru) ram going to Mr Lancaster at 21gs, after kcon competition. Ho is considered tho host 2-tooth ram of tho breed ever seen In the North Island. Stud Bomnoy made 2J to sgs, flock 7s 6d to figs ; stud Lincolns 14 to Digs, flock 1 to s:jgs ; stud Southdowns 51 to 9gs, flock 5 to 7:]gs ; one stud Shropshire sold at ogs, flock 21- to ugs; stud Border Loiccsters 71 to Bigs, flock 1 to gigs; one stud English sold at 2igs, flock Ito s:[gs; crossbred 12s fid to 21gs. A good numher of lines were passed in.
