Eino weathor was oxporioriced for the opening meeting of tho Hutt Valley Cycling and Atblotic Club, held on tho banked asphalt track at Potone Recreation Ground yostorday afternoon. About 2500 wero present. Martin rodo a mile behind a motor ridden by George Lewis. Tho motor refused to work in the third round. Martin completed the distance in 2min 1 4-ssoc. G. Sutherland won the mile from scratch in 2min 19 l-ssec, Martin second, A. Hustan third. E. A. Thomas, Auckland, won the final heat of the twoniilc second-class handicap, W. J. Mill, of Nolson, socond. and A. E. G. Erison third; lime smin 2 l-ssoc. T. H. Oates and T. Whitfiold, of Canterbury, wero unplaced. Sutherland was placod in his hoats of the half-mile and two-mile handicaps, but did not start in the final. Martin was unjplacsd in his heat of the half-mile. Tho final of the half-inilo resulted: M. Brunettes, 50yds, 1; H. Wolf, 70yds, 2; F. * Nattrass, 45yds, 3; time, lmin 1 2 sßec. Final of two milo : M. Brunette, 150yds, 1; H. Holland, 80yds, 2;E. A. Thomas, 180yds, 3; time, 4min 41 3-ssec.
