FARMERS’ UNION.
{BY TBLEORAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
Palmerston North, last night
At the Farmers’ Union meeting to day it was decided to take immediate steps to protest against a dairy school being established at Levin. A strong deputation, including representatives of the A. and P. Association and Chamber of Commerce, will wait on the Minister, with the district membors of Parliament, and leading members of the Union. The expansion of noxious weeds in the district caused a lengthy discussion. It was attributed to two causes, the deposit of merchants seed cloanings in river banks, the refuse being washed down with every flood and deposited on properties abutting the river, and the purchase of cheap seeds in auction rooms. The proof of a lengthy circular, which is being prepared by Mr J. G. Wilson, President of tho Executive, on tho aims and objects and advantages of the Union was received ; thirty thousand copies are to be printed and circulated throughout the colony. The establishment of central co-operative grain stores for farmers was approved of. Steps are to be token to define the position of farmers unwittingly buying deseased stock at auction.
