THE PREMIER.

Christchurch, last night. Tho Premier arrived from the North to-night. Ho was interviewed by a representative deputation of Canterbury mombers and the Christchurch Trades and Labor Council, in regard to land settlement in Canterbury. The Trades and Labor Council complained of the sale of Crown Lands in the colony. The Premier referred to tho purchase of tho Highfield estate. He promised shortly to visit the Poninsula, and see if any laud was available thero. METHODIST CONFERENCE. At tho Methodist Conference there was formal business this afternoon. Tho session has closed. THE NATIONAL PURSE.
To-morrow Mr Seddon will bo presented with an address and Canterbury’s portion of the national purse.
