Wellington, last night. The Department of Industries and Com morce has receivod the following cable gram from the Agent-General, dated Lon don, 7th inst“ The quantity of Argon tine mutton importod into the United Kingdom during the month of February w As 253,271 carcases, of which 170,893 wflrejanded at Liverpool, 46,109 at London 0405 at Hull, 13.701 at Newcastle, 8200 at Cardiff, 3708 at Southampton, and 1255Jat Plymouth. The quantity of lamb was 30,517 carcases, of which 18,368 carcases were landed at Liverpool, 1000 each at Hull and Newcastle, and 149 at Cardiff. The quantity of Argentine butter imported into the United Kingdom during the same month was 404 tons, which was 'lafidcd at London and Liverpool.” The Agent-General’s cablegram, dated London, 7th, states : The mutton marital is quiet. There is a scarcity of prime quality Canterbury at 4Jd, Dunedin, Southland, and Wellington Meat Export Company other North Island 3„d. Biver Plato mutton is in large supply at Bid. There is a good demand for all lamb. Canterbury is at 6Jd, other brands 6d. Biver Plato lamb is at s}d. Beef is firm. Stocks of New Zealand are light. New -Zealand hinds are at 4d, fores 3id. Butter is firm and in good demand. New Zealand is at 105 s, Danish 106 s, Argentine 106 s. Cheese is very firm at 635. .Heron is firm. Good, fair Wellington on Jjkot.is at £33, April to June shipments £29. The stock is 481 tons, as against 221 tons last year. Cocksfoot is dull. Buyers are not keen to do businoss. Now Zealand 171 b standard is at 605.”
