CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
(Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, last night.
The Conference of the New Zealand Chambers of Commerce, which was to have hern held this year in Auckland. lias had to he postponed indefinitely, on account of the lack of interest of the majority of (he Chambers and the inability of a few Chambers interested to send delegales. Tlie Conference was originally fixed for this week, but was subsequently postponed till the middle of May, and at the meeting of the Council of the Auckland Chamber to-day it was decided to altogether abandon the idea of holding the conference this year. TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
The sum of £644 has been granted for additional apparatus and fittings at Auckland Technical School, instead of £SO asked for by the Education Board. The School is making rapid progress. The session opened wiili -'llill pupils on the rolls, hut the number has now been doubled, which is a satisfactory record for the short time the School has been run' tinder the new regime.
