EGMONT RACES.

By Teleeraph—Press Association. Hawera, last night. Tho Eginont meeting to-day was very successful. Tbo weather was fine, and tho racing was interesting. There was one accident during tho day. Hermit came down in tho hurdles, and was killed, Lind, the rider, breaking his collar-bone. The total put through the machine was £6536, against £5479 last winter. Tho results wore :

Winter Railway Handicap.—Black Reynard 1, Bull Cry 2, Crusoe 8. Also ran : Anchorite, Impati, Kidbrook. Fine finish, Reynard winning under tho whip by a length. Time 1.18, totalisator 767, divs. £1 11s Cd and £2 Us Gd. First Hack Hurdles.—Lady Bell 1, Rags 2, Cavalcade 8. Other starters : Hawera, Oracle, Higblow, Hermit. Ilawera fell at the first jump, and Hermit at the hurdle entering tho straight. Lady Bell won by two lengths. Time 2.59 1-5, tote 886, divs. £3 6s and £1 9s 6d.

Tawhiti Handicap.— Stepson 1, Sandy 2, Rapids 3. Scratched: Siandra, Midbrook. A splendid finish, Stepson winning by a head. Time 1.181-5, totalisator 1115, divs. £5 6s and £1 8s fid. Egrnont Cup. Durable ... ... 1 Tupara 2 Blackwing 8
