A Tonga correspondent wires that on May 23rd a public meeting attended by nearly all the European residents, appointed a committee of the principal business men to draw up an address welcoming the High Commissioner on approaching visit, and asking for the redress of variousjgrievances under which the whites have long labored. Changes are asked for various public offices and the methods of conducting public business by the Tonga authorities, more particularly in the Treasury, Customs, Lands, and Premier’s offices.
