CHRISTCHURCH, last night

At. the Magistrate’s Court to-day, Frank Carter sued Daniel McGregor for Blind, in consequence of an accident outside the A. and P. grounds at the time of the November Show. Plaintiff was driving in a cart, and stepped suddenly out, on to t,hc road, and was kicked by McGregor’s stallion, which was alleged to have been on the. wrong side of tile road. Mr Jlaseldcn, S.M., non-suited the plaintiff. with costs, chietly on the ground of contributory negligence, in not, looking before he leaped. John Johnston, a resident of Bicrarton, was found dead on the road this morning. lie had been somewhat melancholy lately, but, appeared to he in good health last, night. Mr Bishop, S.M., sitting as a Licensing Committee, sat, again to-day fn consider the adjourned applications for licenses in the Kaiapoi district. where reduction had* been carried. Licenses were refused to the Juneti'v.i Hotel, at, Dhaka, and the KaiaP'U Hotel, Kaiapoi. 'three applications were deferred to JunetllL when the licenses will he issued if satisfactory arrangements for improvements have been made. The other applications were granted.
