DREDGING.
Per Press Association Dunedin, last night. Dredging : First Chance 58s, Lawrence 9s 2d, Taniwha 8s 3d.
CLOSING HOTELS.
At the adjourned meeting of the Waikouaiti Licensing Committee to-day, reduction having been carried, it was resolved to refuse licenses to the Palmerston and Empire Hotels in Palmerston, and the Clyde Hotel, Hampden, the latter having had the license endorsed since last meeting. This makes four hotels closed, being the number permitted by law. The reduced hotels in the City and Caversham will be closed to-morrow. aDd ten o’clock licensing comes into operation. The whole of the hotels in the Chalmers electorate, and which includes the NorthEast Valley, will close bars to-morrow. THE BRUCE HOTELS.
In Bruce district it is understood the bars will be kept open, but only nonalcoholic drinks will be sold until the Appeal Court gives its decision.
