The Financial News, writing in regard to the surplus announced by Viotoria, says that this'is more notable, inasmuoh as the result was achieved in a year of unparalleled drought. ... The Daily Mail hopes iho example win be followed by other States in Australia. The Daily Telegraph says the announcement is a reassuring factor ar regards the Australian colonies. , Tho Morning Loader states that the news of a surplus is gratifying. The Morning Advertiser says that this earnest endeavor will go far to reassure investors, whom adverse criticism of colonial financial policy may have disturbed.
