RECORD PRICES.

There was a large entry of stock and a good attendance of buyers at Addiugton market to-day. ... Fat cattle : 172 head were yarded, and prices wore firm at an increase on last week’s rates. Steers brought £6 15s to £lO, extra prime to £lss 12s 6d; heifers £5 17s 6d to £ll 10s, cows £5 5s to £lO ss, beef 28s to 21s per lOOibs. Fat sheep: There was another large yarding, and the keen domaud which had been noticeable for soma time was again in evidence, recont rates'being moro than maintained. Freezing wethers and best quality ewes showed a rise of 6d per bead. A feature of the salo was a consignment of 38 show wethers from the N.Z. and A. Land Co.’s Totara Estate, which roalised from 3fls to 655, the higher price constituting a reoord for the colony. The range of prices was :—Extra heavy wethers brought 35s to 655, froezing wethers 17s to 26s 3d, Merinos for freez ing 16s to 20s, others 11s Id to 14s 2d, freezing ewes (aged) 14s to 20s, butohors’ 12s fid to 21s sd, vvothers and ewes 17s 4d to 21s 9d. Fat lambs: 1560 wore yarded, and all prime quality met with keen competition on the part of export buyers, with the result that prices advanced 6d per head on the previous week’s rates, and the quantity secured by the butchers was very small. Tegs brought 17s 9d to 19s 9d, a few extra large 27s 6d, freezers 13s 7d to 17s 6d, butchers’ 12s 6d to 16s.
Pigs : There was a small entry and improved demand for baconers. Prices were : Baconers, 45s to 62s,'equal to 4sd to 5d per lb ; porkers, 35s to 445, equal to 5d to s|-d; choppers, £3 to £5 Bs.
