GISBORNE RACING CLUB’S

MEETING.

TO-DAY’S RACES,

NOTES AND ANTICIPATIONS,

(By Early Bird.)

There is prospect of fine weather for the opening day of the Gisborne Racing Club’s Meeting, and the attendance should be very largo. The acceptances are very satisfactory, and good fields should be witnessed. The Secretary (Mr Nasmith) has made complete arrangements for the meeting. Trains leave Gisborne for the racecourse at 11.20 a.m., 12.30 p.m. and 1.30 p.m. The following are the acceptances : Handicap Hurdle Race, 2 miles.

Stray bird ... 11 7 Lady Haven 9 12 Coinfort ... 10 7 Kanaka ... 9 7 Levant ... 10 0 Morpeth ... 9 0 Upon his running in Napier, Comfort should have a big say in this event, but if beaten it will probably be by Lady Eaven. My selection is— Comfort 1 Lady Eaven 2 Levant ... 3 Hack and Hunters’ Flat, 1 mile and distance. Te Eahui ... 11 12 Local Option 10 5 Talune ... 11 10 Vivacity ... 10 5 Bullfinch ... 11 0 Mokai ... 10 5 Guiletta ... 10 10 Ifaiti ... 10 5 Te Eahui has a very big impost, and is a doubtful starter. Vivaoity, Local Option, and Bullfinch are well in. The numbers should go up as follows —* Vivacity ... ... ... 1 Local Option 2 Bullfinch 3 Flying Handicap, 6 furlongs. Ia 10 10 Eomany Girl 9 12 HinetauparikilO 9 Croupier ... 9 9 Soultina ... 10 7 Nukurau ... 9 2 Mongonui... 10 0 Hiki ... 9 0 Argyll ... 9 12 This should be a most open race. Ia must be given a great chance, as also must Croupier, Mongonui, and Hiki. I place them— Ia 1 Mongonui ... ... 2 Croupier ... ... 3 Gisborne Park Steeplechase, about 3 miles Scraybird ... 11 12 Pullack ... 10 6 Cronje ... 11 11 Kanaka ... 9 12 Marino ... 10 7 Hylas ... 9 9 My selection is— The Pullack 1 Marine 2 Cronje 3 Maiden Scurry, 5 furlongs.
