Sir Wilfrid Laurier bas introduced a Bill to construct a national transcontinental railway with tho object of rendering Canada absolutely independent of the United States, which, in the past, has repeatedly threatened abrogation of bonding privileges. When the line is built to the Maritime provinces, Canada will be commercially independent. The Bill is likely to pass.
