ARREST OF AN OFFICER AND ENGINEER.

Per Press Association., Dunedin, last night. In connection with the numerous claims made against the Union Company for passengers’ luggage that has gone astray, Detectives Livingstono and Connolly, at Port Chalmers to-day, arrested Charles Hughes, second officer of tho Corinna, on whose premises a considerable quantity of miscellaneous luggage was found, mostly travellers’ samples. Afterwards John McCallum, until recently third engineer of the Oorinna, was arrested on a similar charge.
