SOUTH AFRICAN TRADE.

GOOD DEMAND FOR SHEEP, FRUIT, AND OYSTERS.

By Telegraph—Pro'as Wellington, last night. Mr Gow, commercial agent for New Zealand in South Africa,' has forwarded a report to the Department of Industries and Commerce. The following extracts are taken from his communication :

• “ I havo just called for quotations for ten thousand four and six tooth morino ewes, and I sineoroly trust in Now Zealand will quote price’s likely to tempt buyers to try our stock, for thoro is a very fine hold here for good stock. It will be useless to quoto fancy prices, for African buyers aro keen business men, and they cable for quotations all over tho world.

f l;“ Oysters : Consequent on the depletion of local supplies, tho Government stopped oyster fishing at Natal. Very small ones are' sold in shops at Capetown at two shillings per dozen. “Fruit: Wo must not allow tho provious'oxporiment to in any way discourage us. AH depends upon the quality. Nothing but the choicest fruit must bo shipped, and in packing apples care must, be taken to wrap each one in paper. Aus tralia is Bonding five thousand cases of apples monthly. The wholesale value here is 6s to 7s por oaso. Tho size should bo uniform. Small ones aro of no use whatever.”
