Tho Premier, in his reply, said: “It is gratifying indeed to ray colleaguos and mysoif to find that our • action.in supporting Mr Kirltbrido’s Fire Insurance Bill meets with the approval of yourself. aud other members of tho Farmers’ Union. Tho course adopted in this case is consistent with what wo havo urged for years, and tho mutual principle will I am sure break down the existing monopolies, reduce premiums, and prove financially successful, particularly if care is takon in tho management. Tho mutual principle has succeeded in Canada and other places, and to say it should not succood in Now Zealaud is a reflection upon our intelligence and business capacity.’’
