CO-OPERATION.
THE COOPERATIVE SUPPLY ASSOCIATION.
At the general meeting of the above association, held last evening, there was a large and representative attendance, and judging by the interest manifested by shareholders the association promises to be a great success. There are to date 364 shares taken up, and the total liability incurred in so doing was only Hl6 16s, and Mr Beere, the organising cecretary, is to be congratulated on the economical basis on which he has floated so many shares. On the proposition of Mr J. R. Jones, seconded by Mr W. F. Dines, Mr Sievwright was appointed president. Mr J. R. Jones was unanimously elected vicepresident. The following committee were elected: Mrs Sievwright, Messrs D. Quinn, Oxenham, Moate, James, F. Stafford, W. F. Dines, and Reid.
Mr A. G. Boers was elected secretary and treasurer, and Messrs L. T. Symes and Beere, senr., were elected auditors. A vote of thanks was accorded Blr Sievwright for his refund of solicitor’s fee, £2 2s, which was carried with acclamation. The Chairman expressed the hope that all members would canvass for the success of the institution. If members would work harmoniously they would soon be a live association.
At a subsequent meeting of the committee it was decided to allot all shares applied for. It was also resolved that the allotment call should bo paid in the course of a fortnight, also to issuo a circular to shareholders re the amount of goods they would require per month. It was resolved that the committee meet every Tuesday at the office of the secretary.
