BAND CONTEST

At the band contest the euphonium solo resulted: W. Dunn, Hawera, 39, 1; B. May, Hastings, 36, 2 ; J. Cosgrove, Dann'evirke, 32, 3. Quartette, Hawera No. 1, 48,1; Feilding, 46, 1; Hastings, Waitara and Marton, 46 each, 3. The weather for People’s Day is not too promising. Rain fell last night and this morning. B flat baritone solo : W. White, Hastings, 39,1; E. A. Urwin, Hawera, 38, 2; R. McDonald, Marton 37, 3. , A conference of delegates from the bands this morning decided to form a North Island Amateur Band Association. Marton was decided upon as the next place for a contest, in May next. Mr Lound, Marton, was elected secrotary of the Association, The Association will work under the rules of tho North Island Brass Bands j Assooiation.
