JIOCKEY TOURNAMENT Per Press Association. Wellington, last night. In tho ladies hockey tournament the Baultura team (Hutt) bout Te Bata (Christchurch) by two goals to nil. NEW RAILWAY STATION, Dannovirke, last night. Tho official opening of tho now railway station was performed to day by Sir Joseph Ward. Thero was a large attendance of settlers from surrounding districts. The Minister stated that the station had cost .£2500. Sir Josoph did not touch on general politics in his spoech. AN ABANDONED INFANT Dunedin, last night. A young woman, 22 years 1 of age, was arrested at North East Valley this evening for abandoning an infant on Friday evening on the door of a private residence in Clarke street. A SERIOUS CHARGE. Herbert Griffon, arrested at Port Chalmers on warrant, charged with an indecent act in Wellington, was to-day remanded to Wellington.
