FATAL ACCIDENT.

A WARNING TO SAWMILLEES.

(Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night.

An inquest was held to-day to enquire into tho circumstances surrounding the death of Thomas James Perkinson, aged 21, who died on Friday last from injuries recoived while working a 3aw at Mossrs Parker, Lamb and Co.’s sawmill. The jury roturned a verdict of accidental death, qod added tho following rider : “We are of opiniou that if a iooso pulley bad boon on tho saw shaft, as it certainly should have been, this accident could not have taken place, and, in conclusion, those jn charge are certainly censurable for allowing the saw to bo worked whilst the loose pulley was off. We aro also of opinion that where belts aro liablo to be taken on and off engines should always be slowed down.”
