The expenditure on public works in ! "West Australia during the year ending December 3lst last was £2,093,850, made up to £332,882 from revenue, and the balance from loans, against a total expenditure of £1,897,923 for the previous year. In the last decade South Australia has had surpluses in six years and deficits in four years. The aggregate surpluses were £62,899, and the aggregate dehcits £376,565. so that the net debit balance on the ten years is £314,768.
