The Public Petitions Committees reported that it had no recommendation to make on the petition of Mr J. J. Meiclde, of Southland, for compensation for wrongful imprisonment, and that it had no recommendation to make on a petition to have Meickle’s name expunged from tfao prisons records of tho colony. The Arbitration Court Emergency Bill and the Supreme Court Judges Bill passed through committee, and were then put through the final stages aB a matter of urgency. At 7.45 tho House went into Committee of Supply for the further consideration of the Estimates. The voto for the Public Health Department was discussed at considerable length. Mr T. Mackenzie moved a reduction of the first item by £l, as an indication that Government should set up a Board to deal with all appointments to the Civil Service. This was negatived by 35 to 28.
