murder op an old man. By Telegraph— Press Association—Copyright 7 (Received Sept. 4, 11.48 p.m.) Sydney, Sept. 4. A tragedy has occurred at Manilla. An old man named John Hines was left by his wife sitting in a chair beside tho door. Sbo returned after a Bhort absence and found hor husband in tho same position, with his head split open. He was dead. The police arrested a swagsman, running tho gauntlet of soveral shots which ho fired.
