BUTCHERS AND ABATTOIRS. Per Press Association. Christchurch, last night. At the Addington saleyards to-day a largo meeting of butchers was held to consider their position in view of the test cases recently decided in court. After a lengthy discussion it was decided, by 17 votes to 11, not to kill at the abattoirs, but to support an appeal against the decision of the Magistrate in Knight’s case, where defendant was fined for exposing for sale meat not filled at the municipal abattoirs, but which had been killed at the Islington Freezing Works under Government inspection. OBITUARY. The Rev. W. G. Parsonson, who was in charge of the Methodist circuit of St. Albans, died last night after a short illness. WINTER SHOW. The Canterbury A. and P. Association has decided to go on with the project of holding a Winter Show in August next year. Considerable opposition, however, has been offered to the scheme.
