STARTLING DISCLOSURES •* IN 'AMERICA. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright WASHINGTON, Sept. 8., In consequence of President Roosevelt's investigation, wholesale dismissals of high officials of the post office have taken place, including George W. .Beavers, superintendent of salaries and allowances, and A. W. Maohen, general superintendent of the free delivery division. Both are high officials in the office of the First-Assistant Postmaster-General, and hold seats also on the Postal Service Board. It has been shewn that 40 per cent, commission was paid officials for purchase of stores. Salaries were paid without services, sometimes two salaries for one man. In consequence of the disclosures 3046 promotions and the appointment of 300 additional clerks have been cancelled.
