FARMERS’ UNION AND POLITICS.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night. Mr Massey’s elevation to the leadership of the Opposition was mentioned at the Farmers' Onion meeting this morning, when it was suggested that a congratulatory telegram should bo seat to him. The President said he thought this would be unwise, as the Union professed to be non-political, and sending a telegram as suggested would appear to identify them with Mr Massey’s party. He had, however, already wired private congratulations to Mr Massey. Mr Westney said he thought the Union might congratulate him as a fellow farmer. No resolution was passed.
