Per Press Association. Wellington, lost night The annual meeting of the New Zealand Rowing Association was held on Saturday evening. Mr J. White (Dunedin) was elected president for the ensuing year. A motion from the Canterbury Association for an alteration to rulo 33 in regard to boats for maidon .four races and pairs and double sculls was negatived. Manawatu and Awarua clubs were suspended on account of being in arrears with subscriptions. It was decided to hold the next championship regatta at Lako Waihola. Tho sub-committee appointed to consider the question of a suitable boat for the übo of maidon scullors reportod that tho length should not exceed 24ft 6in. It could not recommend that the weight should be reduced below 501 b. The following were reinstated as amateurs : J. Beer, H. S. Beer, F. Berndston, H. Roderigin, M. Oussen, C. Bradley, H. Phillips. The Arbitration Court fined King and Mitchell, builders, £5 for neglect to pay one workman overtime. The sum involved was Is 3d, The City Licensing Committee to-day granted a renewal of license of the Western Hotel. It was stated a contract had been let to rebuild the promises within nine months at a cost of £13,500.
On resuming to-day, the Arbitration Court heard the case brought by the New Zealand branch of the Federated Seamen’s Union of Austtalasia against W. and G. Turnbull and Company, alleging .breaches in regard to overtime for work dono above eight hours at the port of arrival and departure, and contravention of section 39 of the award in the discharge of a man or forcing him to accept discharge at a port other than that at which the articles are taken out. The Court reserved judgment and adjourned till to-morrow, when most of the reserved judgments will be delivered.
