D Many claims and companies have stopped for want of water. Two applicants for coal leases near Brunnor are now before tho Court. Ono lease is said to have an English company at its back. , , , _. , A young man named John Lich was drowned in tho Grey river at Ngahero ferry yesterday afternoon. It appears that in company with two others he attempted to swim the river, and when half way caught bold of the rope, apparently to rest? 'When he lot go ho almost immediately sank. His body was recovered later in the afternoon. Ohas. Wesley, employed at tho state coal mine, fell off a viaduct yesterday, breaking three of his ribs ana being badly bruised. .
