Michael Dalton, licensee of the Empire Hotel, was charged .with selling liquor after hours. .The defence was that no money passed. Mr McCarthy (S.M.) said he would assume the defendant made a gift of whisky, but .was unable to find that the gift was a bona-fide one, as it was made to indirectly, benefit him by retaining their custom. He fined him £2 and costs, and the license to be endorsed
