A PEISONEB ESCAPES. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. During the ceremony of the opening of the new courts this morning a man named John Dome, who was to come up for sentence on a charge of theft, slipped out of the waiting room unnoticed by the police and disappeared. Efforts to trace him have been fruitless. TWO-UP SCHOOL.
The Stipendiary Magistrate sat till a late hour to-night hearing the charges arising out of the recent raid by the police on the two-up schools at the Olympic Club. Charles Eager was committed for trial for keeping a common gaming house, and Frank Sturgeon for assisting in the management: The decision in regard to the remaining 33 defendants was. re? served.
