MR WALL AT MUREWAI.
Mr H. H. Wall addressed a crowded meeting at Murewai last evening—the largest that has ever been held in that portion of tho district. Mr Dennis occupied the chair. Mr Wall’d address was on similar lines to his previous addresses. He severely criticised the prosent Administration, and quoted figures to show how badly Poverty Bay compared with other places in New Zealand in regard to the expenditure of public money. The candidate referred to Mr Carroll’s assurance on behalf of the Government
that the lease in perpetuity oould not be broken. He stated that the State had broken the oontraot every time the Land for Settlement Aot was applied to the freehold. If the State oould break the contract with tho land transfer title which the people of the oolony were induced to exchange for an indefeasible land transfer title, the State could break a lease oontraot.

The other lines Bhould be stopped until they could be made by the Government. Under thes9 circumstances Mr Wall stated that there would be little hope of their line ever reaching the Motu. A number of questions were asked and satisfactorily replied t'>. i A vote of thanks was sc orded the speaker on the motion of Mr Tullocb, seconded by Mr Burch. In putting the vote of thanks to the meeting, the Chairman stated that Mr Wall’s figures relating to the expenditure of publio moneys in this district, compared to other parts of the oolony, were an eyeopener, and showed that a obange was needed somewhere. > - ; A vote of thanks to the chair oonoloded a very successful meeting,
