MR WALL AT MUREWAI.

Mr H. H. Wall addressed a crowded meeting at Murewai last evening—the largest that has ever been held in that portion of tho district. Mr Dennis occupied the chair. Mr Wall’d address was on similar lines to his previous addresses. He severely criticised the prosent Administration, and quoted figures to show how badly Poverty Bay compared with other places in New Zealand in regard to the expenditure of public money. The candidate referred to Mr Carroll’s assurance on behalf of the Government

that the lease in perpetuity oould not be broken. He stated that the State had broken the oontraot every time the Land for Settlement Aot was applied to the freehold. If the State oould break the contract with tho land transfer title which the people of the oolony were induced to exchange for an indefeasible land transfer title, the State could break a lease oontraot.

i In referring to Sir Joseph Ward’s address in the South on railway mattjrs, the candidate stated that Si' Joeeph Ward bad said that the Main Trunk railway, the Otago Central, and the Midland railway should be finished first out of borrowed money. The other lines Bhould be stopped until they could be made by the Government. Under thes9 circumstances Mr Wall stated that there would be little hope of their line ever reaching the Motu.
