WOOL-SALE.
(Per- Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. The third wool sale of this season’s series commenced in Alexandra Hall to night, when about 15,300 bales were catalogued. There was a record attendance of Home, Coniiotnta), American, and local buyers. The wool was not, as a whole, up to the standard of quality of that submitted at the previous sale, some of the clips being heavier in greasp, and station clips wore mostly from further back’etations and rougher country. There was an improved; demand for merino wool, of which a number of good clips were offetel, and prices showed a rise of a farthiug to a penny per lb, aeeordiog to quality. There were no superfine half breda offered such as those which brought top price at the December Bale, but medium sorts were in strong demand and advanced about halfpenny per lb. Threequarters bred and crossbred showed practically no change iij prices, but were more keenly competed for and prices, for all descriptions were very firm, and in some oases sold as well as the fleece woo'. Tbe buyers for the home market took the bulk of the offering, while a fair quantity was taken by the representatives of the local woollen miffs and speculators. The bulk lots in two catalogues were sold tonight, only a small proportion being passed in, and sale will bB resumed at 9 a.m. to morrow.
