LOCAL STOCK SALES.
An upward tendency was shown at the weekly sale of stock held at Matawhero yesterday, the yarding of sheep totalling about 500. Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Messrs Dalgety and Co. offered about 3000 sheep, and report that all the bettor class of sheep sold at improved prices. There were, however, too many old ewes on the market, and these were dull of sale. They obtained the following prices: 223 fat wethers 17s, Nelson Bros.; 10 fat wethers, light-weights, 14s 4d, F. Reid; 41 culls 2s lOd, Cameron ; 03 sound-mouth wethers 9s lOd, 57 potters 3s, Herbert; 103 ewes Gs 9d, Parsfons; 258 ewes 7s, Parsons ; 412 ewes 6s, Witters. Cattle: There was a very poor demand for cattle. They sold': 25 heifers £3, C. Parsons; 25 two-year-old heifers £3, 2 heifers £3, 2 heifers £3 ss. Messrs Williams and Kettle report that there was a stronger demand for sheep, and any lots passed found ready sale. A line from Messrs DeLautour’s To Araroa station, made 15s. Fresh full-moutli ewes made from 13s to 14s Gd. Lambs were not in vory strong demand, and the offering consisted mainly of culls, which made from 3s to Bs. They quote : 332 4,6, and full-moutli owes 14s, T Jcx-Blake; 572 2-tooth owes 15s, W. D. S. Macdonald; 20 lambs 4s 2d, Matthews ; 47 ditto. C. Noonan ; 37 ewes ss, F. Reid; 38 wethers, 15s, J. Maynard; 25 fresh full-moutli owes 14s d Williams; 200 do., Dymock; 100 do., Jofforson; 366 lambs Ss Id, It. Barker; 295 full-moutli ewes 8s Gd, F. Reid; 47 lambs Bs, D. Rougher; 215 ‘5-year-okl ewes 14s, McMillan; 106 4-year-old owes 14s, McMillan ; 134 2-tooth wethers 13s 9d, J. Wilson; 32 ewes 10s Gd, C. Evans; 17 owes 2s Id, »T. Campbell; 3 1 2-tooth ewes ss, F. ltoid ; 1 Border Leicester ram £2 2s, 11. M. Bayly; 3 do IJgs, Bavly; 1 Lincoln ram £2 2s, C. Noonan;'3 rams £1 Is, H. M. Bayly; 4 rams 10s each, H. M.
