The first two heats of the Poverty Bay Rowing Club’s sculling matches for Mr. H. Sandlant’s gold medal, were .rowed off yesterday, as follows: J. Nicolas (scr.) beat J. Stuart (12 sec.), - W. McGuffie (4 see.) beat J. McConnell (4 sec.), C. Somorvell (7 sec.) beat D. Murray (24 sec.), T. Parker (15 sec.) beat T. McConnell (18 sec.), P. Willoughby (10 sec.) beat G. Henderson (10 sec), J. Webb (9 sec.) beat C. Winter (13 sec.), A. Kirk (6 see.) beat A. Burnett (30 sec.), J. Nicolas (scr.) float W. McGuffie (4 sec.), J. bVehb (9 sec.) beat T. Parker (15 see.), A. Kirk (6 sec.) beat P. Willoughby (10 sec.) Tho semi-finals will be rowed this afterjjpon at 4 o’clock, when J. Webb meets A. Kirk and J. Nicolas meets C. Somervell. The final will be rowed at 9 o’clock on Monday morning.
