HOLY TRINITY CHURCH.

Special services were held in the above church yesterday; and wore marked by deep solemnity ,»nd reverence. At 8 o’clock there'‘was a large_ congregation to join in the Holy Communion. Morning prayer was said by tho Rev. XI. N. Wright, at XX o’clock, The Vicar occupied the.-pulpit, and spoke on' the first word from tho cross, “Father,- forgive them, for they know not what they do.’” A capital number of children with their parents, teachers, and friends attended the afternoon service at 3 o’clock. The liev. H. N. Wright spoke on the, story of the first Good Friday. Evening service was conducted by the clergy at ‘7 o’clock. A large congregation was present. The special music, which included a number of very beautiful Passion hymns, was heartily snug. The Vicar again spoke on the tost. “He came unto liis own, and His own received Him not.” At the dose of the service a solemn Litany of the Passion was sung kneeling. The Easter Day services are advertised in another column of this issue. Easter being tho chief festival of the Church, preparations are being made to accommodate large congregations. A hearty invitation is extended to all residents and visitors to attend the services. All hooks will be provided. Tlio young people's Easter service is to be held at 2.45 p.m. All young people, parents, and others arc cordially invited. The preacher at the evening service will ho tho Rev. F. W. Chattenton, of Te Rail-College. The choir will render a selection of beautiful Illaster music, and in the evening will sing the magnificent “Halleluiah Chorus” from the ‘Messiah.’’ There will be the usual Sunday evening services at ICaiti and Mangapapa schoolrooms at 7 o clock. At the former place-there will be a children’s Easter service at 2.4 a p.m. ’ . The church will he decorated this afternoon at 3 o’clock. Offerings or, flowers, ferns, etc., for decoratin; are asked. White toi-toi- or pain pa grass will he specially suitable. Personal help in decorating is also invited. .
