CHURCH OF ENGLAND JUBILEE
CELEBRATION riS GISBORNE
In connection with tho above unique event, tho anniversary of which fails on to-day, tlioro will be special services in Holy Trinity Church this morning at 10 o’clock and at 7.30 this evening. The Vicar of Gisborne invites all people to attend. To-morrow (Friday) there is to bo a lantern and musical entertainment in Trinity schoolroom at 8 p.m. A number of beautiful slides, illustrating tally life in the colony, historic spots, and great men of past days have been specially procured for the lecture, and it should draw a laige and interested audience. Tho jubilee culminates in great choral services throughout the parish on Sunday next. Tho Church au- . thorities are appealing for a golden offering on Sunday for Church extension. Tho Rev. F. W. Chatterton, of To Rau College, will occupy the pulpit iu Trinity Church on Sunday morning, and the Vicar at the i o’clock evening service.
Mrs. Howie , (Princess Te Rangi Pai) is to sing from one. of the oratories during the evening service. On Sunday afternoon there is to be a great jubilee gathering of all children in the district in Trinity Church. The Vicar is inviting the young people of the district to observe next Sunday as “Brick Sunday.” The idea is that each child is to bring tho price of a brick (about threepence) and present it at the service. The intention is, apart from tho actual assistance, that each child shall claim a personal part in the work of enlarging the Church. Fuller details of tlio services, etc., will bo advertised later.
