Wheat. —There is a general pause on the markets, consumers being unwilling to pay the present prices. Rains have partially relieved the drought in south-eastern Europe. Cargoes are quiet at 33s 9d for Victorian off coast; 36s 3d is asked for Juue-July shipments and. 35s 9d for April-May shipments. Australian spot is held for 35s 6d to 365.
Wool. —Bradford market firm and quiet. Prices unchanged.
EXPORTS FOR MAY.
Press Association. WELLINGTON, yesterday. A leaflet Issued by the Department of Industries and Commerce gives particulars of the exports of New Zealand products for May. These are: Butter £107,208, cheese £76,120, frozen beef £36,654, frozen mutton and lamb £480,566, wheat £26, oats £640, potatoes £BB, hemp £116,070, " poultry £202, rabbits £BSO, tow £9895, kauri gum £80,733, grain and pulse £9715, liops £503, hides £18,162, skins £126,983, tallow £57,090, timber £24,989, wool £557,034, gold £224,463. ENCOURAGING GOLD MINE. GREYMOUTH, this day. News from the New Alpine mine is very encouraging. Yesterday a telegram was received from the superintendent as follows: “Inclined winze opening out on coarse gold. More quartz making in the face of the level, carrying a little fhio gold.”
