Lord Dundonald, intervewed by the Daily Alail, states that he retired from tho Army Qjxing to the authorities not offering him employment since he w*as turned out of tho Canadian militia for calling attention to political competition in the appointment of officers. In tho House of Lords Lord Beauchamp explained that under the Laundry Bill convents containing inmates for reformatory purposes were subject to inspection when industrial work w*as performed. A Bill providing for the oualification of women as members of County and Borough Councils was read in the House of Loftls a second time by 111 to 33.
