Mr. Deakin agrees with him that some means ought to he adopted for. sending an assortment oi news to London either by subsidy to the Press Association or some other means.
The Federal Capital is still wrestling with tho mail problem. At a State Cabinet meeting the ActingPremier announced that the guarantee agreement would not be signed while the contractors were in default. The secured bond demanded by the Commonwealth must he paid Erst. The Government wore not dis--posed to act against the Federal Government, and would either require its approval <sr an assurance that it hid no objection to what was done. ADELAIDE, June 28. Parliament has opened. The surplus is £300,000. The Governor’s speech indicated that the Franchise Bill would be tlje first matter pushed on with.
PERTH, June 28. The Premier, in a policy speech, said he expected a deficit of £IIO,UOO, attributable to the Council rejecting the Land Tax, and the dislocation caused by the timber troubles.. He intended to re-introduce tho Land Tax Bill.
