NATIVE LEASES
Iu connection with the AA rairon*romai block, application, was made to the Taii-R.awihiti District Maori Land Board yesterday for consent to leases of. 3020 acres (part), 4200 acres (part), and 6841 acres (part), the Messrs. Lud'brook brothers oacli applying for one portion.—The first application taken was that of AA 7 .m. K. Ludbrook for the lea.se of 3020 acres, 35 years, rental 5 per cent, on capital value for first 21 years, and 5 per cent, for the remaining 14 years, which it was assumed would be higher. Mr. J. AY r . Nolan appeared ror tlio applicant.—After hearing a. lot of evidence regarding the value of the land, the President said lie would hear the remaining applications. There were one or two points the Board wished to consider. —Air. Nolan said tl].e application heard was absolutely within the four corners of the Act. —The application for the ( acres and 6844 acres were then taken, showing the land to be much inferior to the first mentioned, ami clearly third, and fourth class.—Tlie President said tlie Board would give its decision at 10.30 the following day.
