THE AUSTRALIAN SQUABBLE.
LONDON PRESS OPINION. United Press Association—Copyright Received August 212, 9.18 p.m. LONDON, August 22. The Daily Chronicle declares that Mr. Oarruthors’ action is a remarkablo symptom of tho particularist feeling surviving in some States. HIGH COURT TO DEAL WITH THE MATTER. ARE STATES AFFECTED BY THE CUSTOMS ACT? Received August 22, 10.35 p.m. STDNEY, August 22. Tho Federal Government has served an injunction on the New South Wales Government. It calls upon the Attorney-General to show cause why an injunction should not issue to restrain the Government from further interfering with imports which were not cleared at tho Customs, and why a declaration should not issue compelling the return of the wire netting taken.- Tho matter comes before the High Court to-morrow. The State Government will raise the question whether there exists a jurisdiction in the High Court to deal with the matter under the Customs Act, and this will involve argument on the basis of the question whether the State Government is bound by the Act in any way.
