The representative hockey match, Wellington versus Wanganui, was played at Day’s Bay yesterday, under pci feet weather conditions. The game opened with fast play, the forwards on both sides putting in splendid work. Five minutes after the bully-off Willis shot .a fine goal for Wellington. Wanganui then swept down to the other end, -and Thomson scored. The Wellington forwards took the game in hand, blit :a fine rush was spoilt by -off-side play. However, they kept up the attack, and Snv.vthe, with a remarkable shot, scored .tlie second goal for Wellington. The local team continued to press hard, but Wanganui's defence was stubborn. Just before half-time Willis scored again for Wellington. Wanganui opened the second half wiiltfh a strong .attack, which they maintained till Thomson scored. Wellington 3, Wanganui 2. After Thomson had .almost notched another goal the home team set mp a forward rush, which ended in Davies scoring. In a few minutes Wanganui had revenge, H. Harris shooting successfully. Wellington 4, Wanganui 3. Davies next scored for Wellington. Then Coe, for Wanganui, sent the ball into the net, but the score was disallowed owing to off-side play. In a few minutes Wellington again attacked, and Willis scored once more, making the final score —Wellington 6, Wanganui 3. The game was very interesting from a spectacular point of view, by reason of the .alternate scoring.
