HOCKEY.

• -CLIVE LADIES’ TEAM. The Clive (Napier) ladies’ hockey team, which arrived yesterday morning by the Talune, played a match agjiinst the Combined School teams, ■winning after an interesting game by 2 goals to nil. The following represented tho visitors : —Goal-keeper, ■M. Peterson : full-backs, N. Lord and H. Harrison (captain); halves, Bissell, C. Greaves and D. Taylor; forwards, D. Brady, K. Crowley, Iv. Bn.vdy, Harrison, Neillson. The Com--bined Schools were : —Goal-keeper, N Harper; full-backs, E. Nield, L. Reid halves, R. Cussen, J. Parker, V. Redell; forwards, E. Hayes (captain), G Warren, V. Warren, K. Martin, M Winter. , In tho first spell the visitors attacked and Miss K. Crowley shot a ■neat goal. Tho visitors had all the best of the play in the first half, and their inability to score speaks well for tth e defensive play of the home team, who, .although at a great disadvantage as regards weight, prevented the visitors from adding to the score. In tho second half the home team appeared to hold their own better, and on one or two occasions were dangerously near the visitors’ goal, but the safe play of tho goal-keeper and the two (fulls prevented any score being made. From a brilliant rush by the Clive forwards Miss Brady was successful in adding another goal to the score. The game was controlled in an efficient manner by Mr. 0. R. Olsen, while Mrs. Merritt and Mr. Cockerill hold the line pennons. Tins afternoon the Clive ladies •meet the Gisborne ladies’ team at Victoria Domain on No. 1 ground, and as tlie men representatives meet a combined team on No. 2 ground there should be a large attendance. To-morrow afternoon the visitors play the Gisborne B team, and on Saturday afternoon they play a return mritcli with the Gisborne A team. The Gisborne Ladies’ Club will be represented bv the following: Misses W. Reynolds' (captain), B. Goffe, I. Goffe, L. .Matthews, E. .Matthews, M. Wachsniann. Woodbino-Jolinson, F. Sawyer, A- Slierratt, Y. Slierratt, and K. Slierratt. The B team, to play Clivo to-morrow, will be: —Misses V. Siinson (captain), D. Osborn, V. WarTen, V. Walters, G. Warren, M. Winter, E. Jones, M. Moore, E. Hooper. D. Jones, and K. .Martin.
