THE RAILWAY SERVICE.
ALLEGED DISCONTENT. Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept 25. Mr.' Herries said in tho Houso of Representatives yesterd'iy evening that a question which would have to be settled before the end of the. session was the question of tho railway employeos. Everyone knew that there was discontent, not only with the pay,' but with the hours of work. In several of the departments nice were going away from the service to seek service elsewhere because of better conditions prevailing. If nothing were done to allay the discontent there might be a repetition of the marine strike. The Premier said- that before the session closed proposals dealing with the railway service would he submitted. Ho said it was not tike duty of members to create a spirit of unrest. He asked the House and the Riaiiilway Service to wiatiit until liis proposals were- submitted on the question.
