A house and 17 acres of land at Middlemarch, the property of the lato Mr. Gillies, has been purchased by the Salvation Army lor use either as an inebriates’ or boys’ home. The purchase money is under £2OOO. This property was formerly offered to the Hospital Board as a sanatorium for consumptives, but the scheme collapsed owing to local opposition.
