The inquest held at Port Chalmers to-day'into the circumstances surrounding the death by drowning of John Tairoa, on Ne.v Ann s_Eve, resulted in. a verdict <n Accidentally drowned” being returued. It was evident that in the darkness latroa either tripped over a hue or slipiuh on the wet deck whim making his way from the istcr# to the bow of tho motor boat 1,1 10 , J (M V the lauding stage, and ell overboard t,eing carried away by tho strong title.
